The Growing Ground
“Education breeds confidence.
Confidence breeds hope.
Hope breeds peace.”
-Confucius
The Growing Ground is a 501(c)(3) organization with goals to restore the ranch to working order, improve the land with planned grazing and other thoughtful management techniques, provide food for our community and nearby food deserts, and to create educational opportunities around regenerative agriculture.
Land Management
Regenerative grazing techniques allow us to use animals to nourish the land, build soil, and sequester carbon. We follow the Savory Method, and work with groups like Holistic Management International, to move animals around the ranch, creating a more diverse ecosystem for our local flora and fauna.
Food Access
We donate fresh, locally-grown meat, eggs, and produce to local community fridges. We also work with fantastic food rescue groups, like Kaizen Food Rescue, to share our products with refugee and immigrant communities.
Our Community Garden gives local residents an opportunity to grow their own food and work as a community to learn techniques for growing in dry, high=elevation climates.
Education
We’re so excited to welcome guests to the ranch to learn about regenerative agriculture. Giving community members the opportunity to see how food is grown is incredibly valuable. We work with local groups, like New Treks, to bring socioeconomically diverse youth to the ranch, where they meet animals, tour the garden, and explore the wild lands.
We hope to host summer camps, field trips, families, small and large groups- anyone from our littlest friends to seasoned neighbors would enjoy getting to know this beautiful land.
