Our Animals

Happy, pasture raised animals.

Hogs

Our hogs lived on fresh, green pasture. They eat lots of fresh produce from Natural Grocer, our neighbors’ kitchens, and our community garden. Our hogs are a cross of Wooly Mangalista and Idaho Pasture Pig, and log to forage in the woods and run around in the pasture.

These steers will be processed October 31. You can purchase pork by the share (quarter, half, or whole) or you can get a yearly “Ranch Friend” membership to buy meat by the cut.

Cattle

In the spring of 2022, T-Bone and Rumpy joined us on the ranch. They are Dexter steers, a breed that originated in Southern Ireland and is known for their friendly dispositions, love of pasture, and lean, delicious meat.

Part of our regenerative plan for the ranch is to graze cattle in a way that nourishes the land, sequesters carbon, and builds biodiversity and Rumpy and T-Bone are doing a great job at it.

These steers will be processed January 31. You can purchase beef by the share (quarter or half) or you can get a yearly “Ranch Friend” membership to buy meat by the cut.

Laying Chickens

Our happy laying hens live in a big coop, with lots of grassy space to explore. They eat locally made chicken feed, along with scraps from the garden and local restaurants. Our laying chickens are a mixed flock of Barred Rocks, Araucanas, Buff Orphington, Rhode Island Red, Brown Leghorn, and one happy little Bantam, named Raccoon.

Turkeys

We love our turkeys! They arrive in August every year and help us clean out our garden when we’re all done. They enjoy fresh air, lots of grass, organic produce from Natural Grocer, and extras from the garden and our neighbor’s kitchens.

Turkeys are processed the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and can be reserved in the online shop!

Meat Chickens

Every year, we raise a flock of meat chickens. They are Cornish Game Hen Crosses and feed on scraps from the garden and Natural Grocer, as well as organic chicken feed. They live outside in the pasture, protected by the pigs, enjoying fresh green grass frequently.
